India’s First University for Transgender People Coming to Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh will host the first university solely for transgender people. The University will allow study for transgender people from class one to PG, with opportunities for research and obtaining PhDs. The University is being built by the Akhil Bhartiya Kinnar Shiksha Seva Trust.

How will I prove I’m Indian if family throws me out, ask LGBTQ community members

Members of the LGBT+ community gathered in New Delhi to express concerns over a nationwide NRC, as it can be very difficult for queer and transgender people to get documents if families are hostile towards them. For transgender people, name and sex in a birth certificate/school certificate is different than in identity documents. Approximately 2,000 trans-women have been excluded from Assam’s NRC.
