Workshops: Apne Aap Women’s Collective, Kamathipura

Our team members Esha Agarwal and Prerna Laddha conducted workshops for the students at Apne Aap Women’s Collective, Kamathipura on Know Your Rights and Social Leadership Skills on the 3rd and 17th of October respectively.

One Future Fellowship

The One Future Fellowship continued in full swing throughout the month of October with fellows meeting for learning sessions and discussions every Sunday and webinars in between. As the first Fellowship cohort graduates, we are all extremely excited to see how the social impact projects undertaken by our brilliant fellows fare and wish them luck in their journey onward being social changemakers in their respective micro-communities.

Talk: Youth Leadership, Wilson’s College, Mumbai

Our Founder and CEO, Vandita Morarka addressed a gathering of over 200 students on the 7th October at Wilson’s College on Youth Leadership and what they can do now for social impact.

Workshop: Self Care on Mental Health Day

This Mental Health Day, we organized a self-care workshop to start conversations around different branches of holistic well-being. This workshop saw full-fledged discussions on the seven different aspects of well-being which were stirred deeper by our facilitators, Nishma Jethwa and Harshil Shah. After in-depth conversations, the participants shared positive affirmations anonymously with each other, spoke at length about community care, the significance and power of safe spaces and support groups and self-dialogue. Vandita Morarka, our Founder and CEO and Shruti Venkatesh, Programme Director at our Queer Resource Center were part of the podcast at The Indian Millennials on World Mental Health Day discussing about Mental Health and Well-Being. Click here to hear the podcast.

Tweetchat + Manual Launch: Self Care for Caregivers

We held a Twitter chat on the topic of Self Care for Caregivers on 10th October. The chat was moderated by Vini Doshi, Psychologist and Research Associate with us. We explored questions around the definition of caregivers, what we understand as self care, how we can improve support systems and community care for caregivers, what are some self care techniques caregivers can practise and so on. We are extremely excited to have launched our introductory manual on Self Care for Caregivers on World Mental Day 2019. The manual is an introductory manual that hopes to begin conversations and awareness around the need for self care among caregivers. You can download a free e-copy here.

Crowdsourced Music Playlist for Feeling Better

This #WorldMentalHealthDay, we compiled a list of songs that we crowdsourced through an informal call for songs that make people feel better, in our communities. You can find the playlist here.

Certificate Course: Gender Sensitisation and PoSH, Mumbai and Delhi

We hosted the certificate course on Gender Sensitisation and Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace on the 11th and 12th in Mumbai, led by Vandita Morarka and Nishma Jethwa and on the 19th and 20th in Delhi, led by Vandita Morarka.

Workshop: Financial Literacy for Young Women

We co-hosted a workshop on Financial Literacy for students and young professional women on the 12th October titled ‘Millennials and Money’ alongwith Miss Manage at HaikuJam. The event saw engaging conversations around topics ranging from financial planning and investing to tricks and techniques to save money.

Sanskaari Girls Book Club Meetup

The Sanskaari Girls Book Club Meetups in Mumbai and Bangalore took place on the 13th October and saw engaging conversations and discussions around the book Cobalt Blue authored by Sachin Kundalkar and translated from Marathi by Jerry Pinto.

Workshop: Queer Rights, Social Communications Media Department, Sophia College for Women

Our COO, Jerin Jacob conducted a workshop on Queer Rights and Allyship on the 18th October at the Social Communications Media Department, Sophia College for Women. The session saw participants engage in conversations around pro-active allyship and gender rights and justice.

Workshop: Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace, Haqdarshak, Pune

Our COO, Jerin Jacob conducted a workshop on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace on the 19th October for employees of Haqdarshak Empowerment Solutions Private Limited, Pune.

Townhall and Diwali Dinner

The One Future Collective Team met for it’s fifth Townhall over two month end days in October followed by a team Diwali dinner celebration on the 26th of October.
