One Future Collective came to life because we were exhausted and frustrated with the gaps in social change work, globally, that did not focus on dismantling structures of oppression and only offered piecemeal changes.
We were founded in December 2017 with a vision of a world built on social justice led by communities of care. Initially, our focus was on building compassionate youth social leadership towards this vision. We have since transformed our ‘how’ rapidly to adapt to changing needs of our communities, but our ‘why’, our reason for existence remains constant. Our work has expanded to address issues of gender justice, feminist leadership, and mental health towards achieving a socially just world.
We work with people, organisations and communities to empower and equip them with the skills, tools, and solutions required for overhauling oppressive structures and rebuilding them with care and justice. We are also striving to develop ourselves as an organisational model of feminist leadership that is sustainable and community led and owned in parallel to our larger mission.
We started our journey as one person and have grown to a team of 15 people across the country. What started as a journey of holding space for 20 change-makers in February 2018 has now travelled with over 7000 change-makers across the world.
We have been recognised globally for our work by way of awards, partnerships, and acknowledgement of our knowledge tools and advocacy efforts. We work with prestigious clients, partners, and a myriad of change-makers across the globe to drive forward our mission of nurturing radical kindness as a way to achieve social justice.
Through these years and global turmoil, we have remained committed to our independence. However, this independence is not indifference and we reinforce here that we take sides and stand in solidarity with people and communities whenever we see injustice occur anywhere in the world.
